Night 2 and Day 16: Holiday House

Holiday House

This photo was taken this morning. At around 3AM. I cropped and played around with the levels. Otherwise, it is untouched. I called the photo "Holiday House" cause it looks like a house in the mountains where you would go, sit on a bearskin rug, and sip on hot chocolate.

Honestly, I really like it.

Ta ta, for now!

Day 13: Cloud Moon

Cloud Moon

This is another Night 1 reject that I never used. I did some color adjustment and it looks pretty cool now. I wish it was more in focus though. It would have been a beautiful picture if it was. I need to go find me a chart for aperture, exposure, and what not settings so I can take better and clearer night shots. I'm such a photo newb. ;_;

Day 12: Meta

Meta

Ok, so I have not been too good at updating this blog on time or with pictures for that matter. D=

However, I'm getting the next week "mostly" off. Expect pictures Sunday, Monday, Wednesday!

I'm working Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. It kills me to work at the place I work at and I don't really feel like doing anything on those days haha.

I am then in Montreal for four days. =D So, expect awesome pictures while I'm there! Well, hopefully awesome.

Day 11: More Stuff Doesn't Happen

I've got a splitting head ache and I've also got to work today. We'll see if anything happens. Here is to hoping.

Days 8, 9, 10: I Am Lazy ;_;

I've already let myself down a bit more. But, I have an excuse. I got super sick and have been indoors for the past three days. :/

I am now running a 24 inch monitor of widescreen goodness so I am in photo editing heaven. =D

To make up for being late again here is another reject photo from my vast collection!

Vertical Building

This photo was taken on Night 1. I liked it, but it wasn't too in focus which kind of ticked me off. So, I didn't use it for that day.

Day 6 and Day 7

These look to be my first two failed days. ;_;

Not like anyone but a few of my friends read this anyways but still.

Personal failure sucks harder. =(

So, in consolation here is a picture from the night shoot I did with my friend.

Credit goes to him for setting up the shot and the idea.

That is all. I'm going back to recovering now from a week with little to no sleep.

Day 5: Ominous

Ominous

I guess it means I either have to check my engine before the minions of Satan devour my eternal soul or that I had 5 seconds to figure out what I picture I was going to take for today's update.

Sorry, it's not that artistic, but, I actually have to go to sleep early tonight cause I'm working in the morning (so, I can have an awesome party tomorrow night! *sigh* the things I do in the name of fun... )

Bleh. Work sucks. ;_;

Day 5: Random

I have no idea what I'm gonna do today. I'm working again tonight. However, I'm feeling a bit under the weather, so my photos today will probably reflect that. Neocitron here I come!

Day 4 (Night 1): Lightspeed, Hypercity, Driving Real Fast

I phoned my friend after work and decided that we should hang out and drive around town with my tripod in his car. This is what I came up with after a few hours of shooting:

Lightspeed

I like this photo as it is somewhat ambiguous.

Is it the visor of motorcyclist speeding through the city in the Night?

Or is it a tripod shot through the moon roof of a friends Honda?

This photo was created by combining three photos slightly together. The first layer which is the one I liked the most, a second to add a bit more "pizazz" to the look of the lights and third to cover up the ghostly hair of my friend who was driving and often would pop into the exposure of the shot.

Hypercity

This photo was taken at 12:03AM... Or so says the digital clock in my friends car. This is my favorite shot of the night. An experiment for the most part. In this case, rather than combining them to hide mistakes, this photo was created by a few different photos overlay'd over each other to varying degrees of opacity in photoshop on three different layers with no other modifications. The bottom layer (the still shot) full opacity, and the other two shots barely visible.

This what the two other photos looked like:

While both of them are pretty cool on their own. I really liked how they sort of made everything come together in the finished combination.

Honestly, I'm just writing stuff now because I apparently broke the layout of the site by trying to make things look pretty T_T. Damn you blogspot! What's wrong with you? Gah! Oh well. I think this is enough writing to fix the problem and not look stupid.

Driving Real Fast

This photo was taken by sticking the camera + tripod through the moon roof itself. I'm not sure how technically or artistically sound this photo is. However, I like it just the same even if it is not a great photo. =D

That is all for the night/morning. I'm working again tomorrow, so expect more night shots. Probably not as cool or crazy as the ones tonight but hey, who knows. =3

Day 4: Worky Work Work

I have an odd sleeping schedule. Often I go to bed around 10PM and other nights I can't fall asleep until 3AM or later (or earlier depending on how you like to tell time in the morning. =P ).

This means I have to work evening shifts to compensate for my often late wake up times.
I'll be damned if I'm gonna wake up by 9AM most days.

So, today, work shots and night shots are in order!

Day 3: Wall, Razorwire, I Like Clouds

Wall

I took this photo of a girl that I know (^-^) on a whim because she wanted to see if she could stand on the Gas Meter. She failed, but I got a cool photo out of it. I messed with the brightness and the contrast a bit. Photoshop scares me too much to do anything too crazy.

Razorwire

This photo is nothing special but I like how it looks. *shrugs* I took it while exploring today.

I Like Clouds

Alright, I'm a sucker for cloud shots. So sue me. I tried my best to use the rule of thirds a bit better in this photo. I don't know if I succeeded or not. Oh well. I also messed with overlaying the photo against itself to bring out the colors a bit. I succeeded in bringing out noise and a bit of color. So, half success? (Reminder: Shoot at lower ISO next time T_T )

That is all for today! More tomorrow!

Day 3: A Day Out...

I'm going out for the day! My camera is coming with me... let's see what I get!

Day 2: Highway and Neighborhood

Neighborhood

I took this photo while cruising around near my old stomping grounds. Not much else to say except I love silhouetting trees apparently. =3

Highway

Honestly, I really like this photo. The contrast was barely played with in photoshop. Aside from that, nothing was changed.

However, a few people from the forums this photo was originally posted on will be wondering why I chose to use the original and not the cropped version (That Euphforia had made, which admittedly, fixed quite a few compositional problems). The answer lies within the idea that this blog is a showcase of my evolution as a Photographer from Day 1 to whenever I stop updating.

Which means, I like to include my mistakes as well. =)

(Except for that wire! *shakes fist*)

[edit: by "whenever I stop updating" I mean in 365 days. :P]

[edit2: by "365 days" I mean 364 days.]

Day 1: Sunspot

This photo was taken right outside my house on Monday, near my front porch. The original had a wire across the frame. It was photoshopped out.

I also messed with the levels and played around with the contrast.
